Power of Youth

Written by Kyle Braatz on Apr 16th, 2010

Netgen was founded on a belief. A belief that convergence and social media would help provide a voice for everyday people, and that youth and young adults would use that voice. With communication mediums such as Twitter, Youtube and Facebook, we have an opportunity to showcase our individualism, our passion and truly shape the world around us.

Video is one of the most powerful tools used to define communication and tell a story. Video parallels with real life, where the power of emotions jumps out at you through the said word, through song or through animation. Video can take an idea, a thought or a belief and bring it to life.

I am very proud of a piece that one of our interns, Stephanie Bailis, helped create:

I can’t describe the feeling I got when Stephanie submitted the final version. All I know is that I was extremely proud of her and our team. I was proud that Netgen will continue to showcase the amazing abilities and passion of youth.

Anyone who knows me, or the Netgen Team, is well aware of our belief that young people can do powerful things. They just need an opportunity.

At Netgen, we are a youth driven company that provides this opportunity. An opportunity to take risks and work on projects that other organizations might only save for people with more “experience”. We have experienced staff, strategic alliances and mentors who help guide client projects and our company, but our staff working on the projects all understand one thing. They understand the Net Generation…

I truly believe this is our competitive advantage. Working with a group of young, dedicated, creative people who have not been subdued to the cynicism of business. As a business owner, I will trade “experience” for passion, dedication, and excitement any day, and I will be here to teach, learn and grow with my team. We will give them the experience they need, but hope they never lose the free spirit that attracted them to us in the first place.

To Stephanie, Oana, Chris, Gabe, Valerie, Amy, Scott and Dave.

All I can say is Thanks! Thanks for your hard work, and your belief in Netgen. More importantly thanks for being you! Thanks for being individuals, thanks for being passionate and thanks for bringing your free spirit and enjoyment of life to our team.
